In-person
Kilt Making Classes.
My in-person classes are available from May 2025
And I can’t wait to see you and hear the chitter chatter of this learning space.
Although my online training is pretty incredible, some of you want to learn in a more personal creative space, which suits you better. We all learn differently.
Learning “in-person” is an unforgettable hands-on experience, that will not only teach you this time-honoured craft of kilt making, but will also allow you to immerse yourself in rich Scottish tradition and culture,
with other like minded creatives.
Classes will run weekly from May 2025 on Thursday / Friday / Saturday
There will be 12 day courses available on request, along with designated course dates available.
Due to limited space on each course, bookings are available following an initial call with me. You can book your call now and following this I will send you all of the details to sign up to your preferred date.
*if these days do not suit you, please don’t hesitate to get in touch and we can discuss other options.
Here’s what you can expect from my in-person kilt making classes.
-
Hands-on experience
You don’t have to be a seasoned sewer to learn kilt making, complete beginners can invest in themselves with my classes also, which are tailored to suit all skill levels.
With over 20 years of kilt making experience, 15 years dedicated to teaching, I have taught all levels of students to create their exquisite tartan masterpiece.
Being in class with me, means I can physically show you and guide you with every stitch.
On the first day, you will learn and practice all the stitches required to ease your kilt experience.
Thereafter, you will be on a journey to create a kilt masterpiece.
-
Kilty community
There’s something really special about learning together in a creative community.
Whether you are on a 12 day course or committed to coming to weekly classes, joining fellow kilt enthusiasts and watching each others progress, is full of joy, encouragement and pride.
Getting homework to do and holding each other accountable to achieve each stage to the best of your ability, helps you to stay focussed and learn from each other.
And of course , getting excited about each other’s colourful tartan and design choices comes so naturally when working with this fabulous cloth.
-
Relaxed learning
I strive to make you feel welcome and relaxed through your whole kilt journey.
My work room will be set out so you have your own to table to spread out and be comfortable through the sewing experience.
My classes will run 10-3 with a couple of tea breaks to take a breather and re-set between stages. These of course are optional if you are in the sewing zone, you may not want to stop!
Savour the creative process at your own pace with no pressure.
I am well aware we all learn differently, so my work room is a safe environment for every single person.

Sharing Stories
Something I love about the in-person classes are the conversations about everything and anything.
I’ve always said “What’s said in kilt class, stays in kilt class”
Every class is different, sometimes its full of laughter, sometimes it’s still and studious and sometimes it’s a therapy session.
Whatever the atmosphere is, the creative learning space will connect you with like minded individuals who are invested in learning this heritage craft.
We are all on our own journey which has brought us together in this fabulous space. So we will be connected through this amazing kilt experience!
